blockly-project-planning

Plan a new Blockly hardware project by discovering suitable board and library packages, then comparing viable combinations. Each plan outlines wiring assumptions, workspace structure, implementation steps, and validation before the user confirms project creation.

Blockly Project Planning Workflow

Use this skill when no project is open and the user asks for a hardware/Blockly result that may require creating a project.

Required order:

  1. Understand the request and decide whether it requires a new Blockly project.
  2. Search for concrete development board package names with the board/library discovery tools.
  3. Search for concrete library package names required by the feature. If no extra library is required, explicitly say that core libraries are enough.
  4. Build 2-3 viable board/library combinations when alternatives exist. If only one combination is practical, explain why.
  5. For each candidate, outline the architecture and workflow: board, libraries, wiring or pin assumptions, ABS/workspace structure, validation steps, and safety notes.
  6. Present the candidate plans to the user and ask them to choose or confirm one.
  7. Only after the user chooses or confirms a plan may you create the project, install libraries, or edit workspace files.

Important restrictions:

  • Do not ask the user to choose a development board before using discovery tools to find candidate board package names.
  • Do not invent board or library package names.
  • Do not call project creation tools before the user has chosen or confirmed a candidate plan.
  • In Plan mode, stop after producing the candidate plan and user-choice question. Do not create the project or make edits.
  • For simple requests such as LED blink, still search for board candidates if a project must be created. A simple feature does not remove the no-project planning workflow.

Recommended output shape before asking the user:

  • Option A: board package, required libraries, wiring/pin assumptions, implementation outline, pros/cons.
  • Option B: board package, required libraries, wiring/pin assumptions, implementation outline, pros/cons.
  • Option C: optional when a third viable path exists.
  • Recommendation: one short default choice and why.
  • User choice request: use [ask question] tool to ask the user to select an option or confirm the recommendation.

Use this reference to write Aily Block Syntax (ABS), a text format for Blockly scripts. It explains block connections, parameter order, statement inputs, values, and variable references, with examples for conditions, loops, and Arduino program structure.

  • Check the correct order of block parameters
  • Write conditions and loops in ABS
  • Look up value and variable syntax for Blockly scripts

Implement or modify Blockly/ABS programs using the project’s current board and installed libraries. Check only relevant library evidence, edit the canonical ABS source, sync it to the workspace, and run focused validation when needed.

  • Adding a feature to an existing Blockly program
  • Editing ABS source and syncing the workspace
  • Checking a focused build or syntax issue

chronicle

FreeSummary

Search indexed chat history to find earlier decisions, tool activity, project summaries, files, and workflow tips. It can also rebuild the local history index when requested or when search results appear out of date.

  • Find a decision made in an earlier conversation
  • Check which tools were used for past work
  • Summarize recent project sessions

handoff

FreeSummary

Create a concise handoff document in the operating system’s temporary directory so another agent can continue the work. It summarizes the conversation, suggests relevant skills, references existing artifacts, and redacts sensitive information.

  • Hand ongoing work to another agent
  • Prepare context for a fresh session
  • Summarize progress without duplicating project artifacts

improve

FreeSummary

Survey a codebase and turn verified improvement opportunities into prioritized, self-contained implementation plans for another agent. It can assess bugs, security, performance, tests, technical debt, migrations, tooling, and product direction while keeping source code read-only.

  • Audit a codebase for high impact issues
  • Plan fixes for security or performance findings
  • Create a grounded roadmap for another agent

Follow a workflow for converting Arduino and ESP32 libraries into Aily Blockly libraries. The guide covers analyzing public APIs, defining blocks, generating code, configuring toolboxes, initializing Serial, I2C, and SPI, adapting boards, and packaging the result.

  • Convert an Arduino library for Aily Blockly
  • Design block definitions and generated code
  • Adapt a library to supported development boards
