AI rating90/ 100See how to install

Good for

  • Reviewing tasks and projects in Todoist
  • Checking comments attached to work
  • Managing labels and filters
  • Reviewing or changing reminders

Overview

What it does

Lets you review and manage Todoist tasks and projects through an agent. It also covers comments, labels, filters, and reminders. It uses Todoist’s official MCP server, a connection for AI tools. Before carrying out a request, it checks the operations and input formats currently available, then calls the operation that matches your request.

When it helps

Use it to review work recorded in Todoist through conversation, or to handle task comments, organizational labels, and reminders together. Access starts with viewing information. Permissions for changes or deletions can be added as the requested work requires them.

Example requests

  • “Check my Todoist tasks and projects.”
  • “Show me the comments on this task.”
  • “Update this reminder.”

Notes

Requires the dedicated todoist CLI and an account connection. The first connection is read-only. Changes and deletions require additional permissions in Settings and approval for the corresponding action. Only reviewed tools are available. If a change fails or times out, it is not automatically retried because it may already have taken effect.

This overview was written by AI (OpenAI Codex) from the public SKILL.md. Check the original below for the exact behavior.

Objective evaluation

AI rated this skill on four points using only the contents of its SKILL.md. Stars and popularity are not taken into account.

Clear instructionsIs it clear when to use it and what it does?
AGoodIt explicitly identifies tasks, projects, comments, and related Todoist objects as the information to read and manage.
Concrete stepsAre steps, inputs, outputs, and examples spelled out?
AGoodIt gives the sequence from status and connection to inspecting schemas with list-tools and executing call-tool.
SafetyAre sending data, deleting files, and running commands disclosed?
AGoodIt specifies initial read-only access, granular approval for changes and deletions, and no automatic retries of failed writes.
Easy setupDoes it need few tools or API keys, and are they documented?
BPartly lackingIt identifies the todoist CLI and authorization steps but does not explain how to install the CLI.

The total counts each point as A = 25, B = 15, C = 5. Rated by AI (OpenAI Codex) as of Oct 23, 2026. Treat it as a guide and read the original before installing.

Review the instructions the agent will receive before you install.

Todoist

Use the installed todoist CLI. Start with todoist status. If it reports not_connected, run todoist authorize-url and share only the returned connect_url with the user.

OAuth uses Dynamic Client Registration and PKCE through authd. No shared client secret enters Muse, and credentials must never be requested in chat.

The first connection requests read-only Todoist access. If a requested change fails because Todoist write or delete access has not been granted, direct the user to add it in Settings; Hatch approval for the action remains separate.

Run todoist list-tools to inspect the live provider catalogue and schemas, then call an advertised tool with:

todoist call-tool --name <tool> --arguments-json '<json-object>'

list-tools exposes only reviewed Todoist tools and includes each tool's hatch_permission, hatch_action, and hatch_permission_label. delete-object is authorized as projects.delete for projects and as items.delete for every other object type. Unknown or new provider tools remain unavailable until reviewed. Read permissions follow the user's connector settings; changes require the corresponding granular approval. Do not retry a failed or timed-out write automatically because its side effect may have completed.
