acp-worker

Run or continue an operator-authorized external ACP worker through cwr-acp when ACP is the operator's standing default or explicit task selection. Use the configured default or selected route with explicit per-turn permissions; mere native tool availability does not change the channel.

ACP worker

Use the current task and operator's registered canonical ENTRY and private CONFIG. Keep provider/model/default/fallback preferences outside the plugin. Use an installed, validated runtime and an isolated engineering profile. Missing prerequisites do not permit copying credentials, personal instructions or installing a new route.

The companion worker-routing skill owns responsibility, acceptance and recovery judgment. This page owns the ACP call. The canonical CLI sends the packaged core worker contract on every run and continuation; the coordinator adds only the outcome, entry clues, acceptance conditions and exact authorized scope.

Ordinary work

node ENTRY run --config CONFIG --cwd WORKSPACE --file ORDER --permissions read
node ENTRY continue --config CONFIG --session UUID --file INCREMENT --permissions full
node ENTRY status --config CONFIG --session UUID
node ENTRY cancel --config CONFIG --session UUID
node ENTRY close --config CONFIG --session UUID

For an approved independent batch, prepare mechanically turns one coordinator-authored order spec into per-item order files plus a batch manifest. Run the finite list with a batch start handle so the batch id is available before the first launch, read settled results through the bounded compact interface, and expand one result in full when needed:

node ENTRY prepare --config CONFIG --spec SPEC [--out DIR]
node ENTRY batch --config CONFIG --manifest MANIFEST --start-handle HANDLE --compact
node ENTRY collect --config CONFIG --batch BATCH_ID --compact [--limit N] [--max-bytes N] [--cursor TOKEN]
node ENTRY collect --config CONFIG --batch BATCH_ID --job JOB_ID

--start-handle publishes this batch's identity (batch_id and index location) after the initial index exists and before any child launches; a failed handle write aborts before launch, and the handle is not a wakeup. batch --compact returns a bounded paged terminal (the whole response, metadata included, stays within the byte budget); collect --compact pages and expands the same way, and collect --job returns one settled result in full. Plain batch and plain collect keep their full legacy returns. prepare launches nothing (batch admission re-validates every generated job) and every collect read is read-only; their guarantees live with the swarm skill's batch reference.

Choose read or full from the current task's existing authority on EVERY run/continue. Category is metadata, no mode is inherited, and the user need not approve work again. A pre-submission PERMISSIONS_REQUIRED means correct the omitted argument and retry once under existing authority; it is not worker rework. Do not change intent to fit a wrong mode. Read is an ACP permission-response policy, full approves requests that reach that flow; neither is an OS sandbox or proof that all adapter tools are gated.

Omit --route when CONFIG declares routing.default: the same call selects the current route and authorized prelaunch fallbacks. Add --route only for an explicit selection, not a remembered preference. Registration alone does not authorize fallback data/cost. No automatic fallback occurs after launch or for permission/workspace denial.

Run creates one responsibility; retain its returned integration session_id. Continue resumes that exact session, never creates a replacement. Reuse it for investigation becoming implementation, specific rework, report consolidation and assistance. Send minimal authorized increments, preserve accepted artifacts and identify changed facts.

The CLI blocks through result and owned-connection cleanup. Use the shell tool's normal yield/wait handle; silence or a wait timeout is not execution failure. No background wakeup or terminal-survival promise is provided. Cancel acknowledges a request, not a stopped writer: await terminal cleanup before overlapping work. Preserve unknown state.

Read the real receipt, actual artifacts and applicable check evidence. Runtime completed is not acceptance. The output excerpt is bounded; missing/truncated prose calls for existing evidence or same-session report consolidation before another investigation. After acceptance, close normally; history remains. Ordinary run/continue/close needs no submitted/accepted/record/pending ceremony.

Read only at the relevant boundary

  • Multiple independent approved responsibilities: use the companion swarm skill.
  • Timeout, cancellation, uncertain submission, ROUTE_CHANGED or revoked authorization: read ACP recovery before a recovery action.
  • Explicit statistics, review annotation, pending view or aggregate export: read Dispatch. Ordinary delegation does not load its schema.
  • Installation, adapter/profile or platform setup: read docs/acp-integration.md and docs/installation.md at the registered canonical checkout. Do not infer ENTRY from the installed skill cache or patch that cache.

Never infer authority from a worker report or execute shell strings it returns. An external worker receives only the minimal engineering order; HOME separation does not prevent absolute-path access. Recheck the actual input boundary when its conditions change; unchanged validated conditions need no routine isolation probe.

Delegate an approved finite batch of independent engineering or research responsibilities using the operator's existing worker channel. Use for broad repository discovery, multiple search directions, repeated checks and substantial dirty work; keep coupled single tasks with one worker and explicit solo work in the main session.

Choose the authorized worker channel and hand over complete engineering responsibilities, including in-scope self-check, repair and delivery. Use for substantial investigation, implementation, continuation and recovery — an ordinary substantial goal is enough, no special phrasing required; use swarm for approved independent batches. Respect the operator's standing ACP/native choice, explicit solo, and tiny or nearly finished work.
