Mac App Release

Attribution: Sourced from steipete/agent-scripts by Peter Steinberger.

Use for Sparkle-updated macOS apps (menu bar apps, utilities, etc.).

Rules

  • Work from the app repo.
  • Read .mac-release.env; it is the repo-owned release manifest.
  • Never print private key material.
  • Prefer Keychain Sparkle signing. SPARKLE_PRIVATE_KEY_FILE is an explicit override only.

Release Manifest (.mac-release.env)

Required fields:

  • MAC_RELEASE_APP_NAME - app name
  • MAC_RELEASE_REPO - owner/repo
  • MAC_RELEASE_BUNDLE_ID - bundle identifier
  • MAC_RELEASE_VERSION_FILE - path to version file
  • MAC_RELEASE_APPCAST - path to appcast XML
  • MAC_RELEASE_FEED_URL - public appcast feed URL
  • MAC_RELEASE_DOWNLOAD_URL_PREFIX - download base URL
  • MAC_RELEASE_APP_ZIP - app zip artifact name
  • MAC_RELEASE_PACKAGE_CMD - build/package command

Release Checklist

  • appcast entry has URL, length, Sparkle signature
  • downloaded enclosure verifies with Sparkle
  • extracted app passes codesign, spctl, and stapler validate
  • GitHub release has app zip + dSYM zip
  • release notes match the changelog section
  • after verified release, bump changelog to next patch Unreleased

Key Commands

# Check app code signing
codesign -dv --verbose=4 /path/to/App.app

# Verify notarization
spctl -a -vv /path/to/App.app

# Verify stapling
xcrun stapler validate /path/to/App.app

# Check zip contents
unzip -l App.zip

# Sign appcast entry (Sparkle)
sign_update App.zip private_key.pem

1Password Integration

If the release requires secrets via 1Password:

  • Set MAC_RELEASE_OP_ITEM + MAC_RELEASE_OP_FIELDS in .mac-release.env
  • Secrets are read once via op inside one persistent tmux session
  • Never expose or echo secret values
  • Prefer secrets already exported in the environment; call op only for fields that are missing
  • Read all missing fields in one command inside that tmux session, so 1Password prompts once per release

Use when long-lived agents, project memories, system prompts, or playbooks are repeatedly summarized, rewritten, or optimized and risk losing domain detail, provenance, or execution learnings.

Use this skill when the user explicitly asks to map, document, or onboard into an existing codebase. Trigger for prompts like "map this codebase", "document this architecture", "onboard me to this repo", or "create codebase docs". Do not trigger for routine feature implementation, bug fixes, or narrow code edits unless the user asks for repository-level discovery.

Patterns and techniques for adding governance, safety, and trust controls to AI agent systems. Use this skill when: - Building AI agents that call external tools (APIs, databases, file systems) - Implementing policy-based access controls for agent tool usage - Adding semantic intent classification to detect dangerous prompts - Creating trust scoring systems for multi-agent workflows - Building audit trails for agent actions and decisions - Enforcing rate limits, content filters, or tool restrictions on agents - Working with any agent framework (PydanticAI, CrewAI, OpenAI Agents, LangChain, AutoGen)

Check any AI agent codebase against the OWASP Agentic Security Initiative (ASI) Top 10 risks. Use this skill when: - Evaluating an agent system's security posture before production deployment - Running a compliance check against OWASP ASI 2026 standards - Mapping existing security controls to the 10 agentic risks - Generating a compliance report for security review or audit - Comparing agent framework security features against the standard - Any request like "is my agent OWASP compliant?", "check ASI compliance", or "agentic security audit"
