Resolve an Octane defect

Establish that the behavior is a defect and identify the package and repository that own it; use bug-hunter for diagnosis and triage if ownership is unclear.

  • If the correct fix is understood and fits the task, reuse an existing fix PR or fix the owning source, add regression coverage there, and open a PR. Link any existing issue and retain any consumer scenario as integration evidence. Use create-a-pr for this repository; follow the owning repository's instructions elsewhere.
  • Otherwise, reuse an existing issue or create one in the owning repository with the affected package/version, expected and actual behavior, a minimal reproduction or the best available evidence, and why the fix remains open. Label an agent-filed Octane issue agent-authored, as described in handle-issue. Keep private consumer code and data out of public reports.

Link the issue or PR from the original work when applicable and state what remains blocked. Do not substitute a workaround for the owner-level fix or issue.

Write a new Octane component in .tsrx, convert JSX to .tsrx, or add scoped <style> blocks and themes. Use when creating a .tsrx file rather than editing one, because the path-scoped tsrx-authoring rule only fires once such a file is open.

Find and fix a bug in the octane monorepo. Use when given a failing test, a regression, or a report that behavior differs from expectation, including deciding whether a React mismatch is an intentional divergence.

Keep a change small and in the existing idiom - size the plan and weigh smaller alternatives before writing it, reuse the mechanism that already owns the behavior instead of adding a parallel one, and simplify the diff before handoff. Use when planning any change beyond a few lines, before readying a PR, or when reviewing agent-written code for bloat.

Open a pull request for octane work. Load before creating the branch, commit, changeset, or PR, including when opening a PR is the tail step of a task that was about something else.

Change Octane's runtime, compiler, scheduler, reconciler, SSR, or hydration engine. Use before editing packages/octane/src. Covers the observable contract, hot-path analysis, and the performance evidence required before handoff.
