create-claw

Prepare a reusable agent for sharing as a Claw by organizing its role, instructions, files, and dependencies. The result is a draft for human review, with personal information excluded and publication handled separately.

OriginalShow the original description

Turn this agent into a shareable Claw for a person to review.

AI rating90/ 100See how to install

Good for

  • Preparing an existing agent for sharing
  • Removing personal context from reusable instructions
  • Organizing files and dependencies for review

Overview

What it does

Turns the agent you have been using in a conversation into a draft Claw that other people can use. It draws on the conversation and lasting instructions to define the agent’s role, inputs, work, outputs, and authority. It selects the necessary files and package dependencies and prepares CLAW.md for the new owner.

When it helps

Use it when you want to share an agent developed for a particular job. It selects reusable instructions and settings without handing over the entire working environment. Raw conversations, memories, credentials, and personal facts are excluded. If the agent’s responsibilities do not form a coherent role, it asks which job you want to share.

Example requests

  • “Turn the agent from this conversation into a draft Claw for sharing.”
  • “Organize the required files and dependencies so I can review the draft.”

Notes

Uses the draft JSON path and review link supplied by /skill create-claw. Inventory requires Node.js and the bundled CLI matching the OpenClaw environment. The skill does not upload or publish anything. A person reviews the contents and publishes through the Control UI.

This overview was written by AI (OpenAI Codex) from the public SKILL.md. Check the original below for the exact behavior.

Objective evaluation

AI rated this skill on four points using only the contents of its SKILL.md. Stars and popularity are not taken into account.

Clear instructionsIs it clear when to use it and what it does?
AGoodIt explicitly turns the current conversational agent into a shareable draft and returns a review link.
Concrete stepsAre steps, inputs, outputs, and examples spelled out?
AGoodThe four steps specify CLI commands, JSON structure, and completion criteria for each stage.
SafetyAre sending data, deleting files, and running commands disclosed?
AGoodIt requires excluding secrets, prohibits uploads, and places content review before human publication.
Easy setupDoes it need few tools or API keys, and are they documented?
BPartly lackingNode.js and the bundled OpenClaw-compatible CLI are required, but environment installation steps are absent.

The total counts each point as A = 25, B = 15, C = 5. Rated by AI (OpenAI Codex) as of Oct 20, 2026. Treat it as a guide and read the original before installing.

SKILL.md (original)

Review the instructions the agent will receive before you install.

Create a Claw

The /skill create-claw message names a private draft JSON path and a review link. Work in this same conversation; prepare the draft for the person, then return the review link. The Control UI owns package assembly and publication.

  1. Capture the reusable agent. Read the existing draft JSON. Use this conversation and the agent's durable instructions to identify its coherent reusable role, input, job, output, and authority. Preserve useful behavior and settings; leave out personal context. If the responsibilities do not form one coherent Claw, ask which responsibility to share before writing. Complete when the four scope fields describe an agent a new person can use.
  2. Inventory only relevant material. Select portable workspace instructions and files that implement that role. Locate this SKILL.md and use its scripts/cli.mjs for inventory so the CLI matches the running OpenClaw installation; invoke it with an absolute path when outside the skill directory. Run node scripts/cli.mjs skills list --agent <this agent's id> --json and node scripts/cli.mjs plugins list --enabled --json. Compare the results with tools actually available in this session and capabilities used in the role. Inspect a candidate with node scripts/cli.mjs plugins inspect <id> --json for its source and exact version. Declare a skill or plugin only when you can ground it in a current ClawHub package reference and exact version; plugin availability alone is not a requirement. Put package references in packages, MCP requirements in mcpServers, and useful schedules in cronJobs. Their declarations are dependencies, not files copied into the archive. Complete when every included file and declaration has a reason tied to the reusable role.
  3. Author the proposal. Follow the draft format. Rewrite instructions for a new owner. Include input, job, output, and authority in the draft scope, and describe the portable behavior in CLAW.md. Place only newly authored portable text in files, mapping included workspace files by source in the manifest. Exclude raw conversations, memories, USER.md, credentials, secret values, private URLs, local paths, and personal facts. Never copy the source workspace tree. Complete when the JSON at the supplied path is valid and contains no private source material.
  4. Hand off for review. Tell the person what the Claw does, which optional files/dependencies you included, and any capability you could not port. Return the supplied review link. Do not upload or publish; the person will inspect the exact built archive, remove optional items, and explicitly publish in the Control UI. Complete when the person can open the review.
