AI rating90/ 100See how to install

Good for

  • Checking internal call status and readiness
  • Placing an approved audio call to the configured owner
  • Requesting a video call explicitly
  • Requesting hangup and checking for remaining calls

Overview

What it does

facetime checks FaceTime's internal status and readiness and places calls to a configured contact for the owner. It uses facetime_call, choosing audio by default and video only when explicitly requested. It can also request hangup and check the status afterward.

When it helps

Use it when you want an agent to inspect the state before dialing or call a specified contact for the owner. If a call is already active or dialing is in progress, it does not place another call. Reports follow the state returned by the tool: readiness does not establish that the other person answered or received audio.

Example requests

  • “Check FaceTime's readiness and current status.”
  • “Place an audio call to the specified configured contact for the owner.”
  • “Request hangup, then check the status.”

Notes

It requires plugins.entries.facetime.enabled and facetime_call. OpenClaw obtains approval before each call. A successful hangup request alone does not establish that the call ended. Driver changes, granting permissions, editing contact settings, and operating system settings are outside its scope.

Objective evaluation

AI rated this skill on four points using only the contents of its SKILL.md. Stars and popularity are not taken into account.

Clear instructionsIs it clear when to use it and what it does?
AGoodIt explicitly defines status inspection, approved dialing, and hangup requests through facetime_call.
Concrete stepsAre steps, inputs, outputs, and examples spelled out?
AGoodIt specifies when to use get_status, initiate_call, and end_call, and how to report returned states.
SafetyAre sending data, deleting files, and running commands disclosed?
AGoodIt requires approval for each call, prohibits additional dialing during an existing call, and forbids configuration or permission changes.
Easy setupDoes it need few tools or API keys, and are they documented?
BPartly lackingThe required configuration and facetime_call tool are named, but initial setup instructions are not provided.

The total counts each point as A = 25, B = 15, C = 5. Rated by AI (OpenAI Codex) as of Oct 19, 2026. Treat it as a guide and read the original before installing.

Review the instructions the agent will receive before you install.

FaceTime

Use only facetime_call. Do not use shell commands or another call tool.

  • Use get_status or check_readiness for read-only inspection. Report the returned fields as internal stages. Never infer that a remote participant answered, heard audio, or can hear audio from readiness flags.
  • Use initiate_call only for the exact owner handle the user requested. Default to audio; use video only on an explicit request. OpenClaw obtains one-shot approval before dialing.
  • Report only the returned pending or ringing state. Do not invent a later carrier state.
  • Use end_call to request hangup. A successful tool result means the request entered the carrier lifecycle; report stronger closure only when a later status result contains no active or pending call.
  • If a call or dial is already present, do not start another.
  • Never install/update/uninstall the driver, change SIP or developer-tools policy, grant permissions, edit ownerHandles, or operate System Settings. Those are explicit operator-admin actions.
