delegate-work

Delegate work to an existing Paperclip agent by selecting a suitable assignee and creating a task with clear objectives, constraints, and deliverables. Receive a lasting task reference and check progress after the conversation ends.

OriginalShow the original description

Delegate user-requested work to an existing Paperclip agent, with a durable task reference and clear execution expectations.

AI rating90/ 100See how to install

Good for

  • Assign requested work to an existing agent
  • Create tasks with clear constraints and deliverables
  • Keep a task link for follow-up after the conversation
  • Check the current state of delegated work

Overview

What it does

Delegates work to agents already registered in Paperclip. It checks the connected user, company, and agent list, then selects an assignee suited to the request. It creates a task containing the objective, supplied background, constraints, and expected deliverables, and returns a task ID and link for later reference. It distinguishes submitted, running, blocked, and completed work using the information retrieved.

When it helps

Use it to assign work to agents on an existing team and let that work continue after the conversation ends. If the assignee or scope is unclear, it asks for clarification before creating a task. It also reports when an agent is paused or unavailable.

Example requests

  • “Delegate this request to a suitable existing agent.”
  • “Create a task that includes these constraints and deliverables.”
  • “Check progress on the task I delegated earlier.”

Notes

A Paperclip connection and an existing team with agents are required. Delegation may start autonomous work using the team's configured execution capacity and budget. Installing the plugin does not create teams or provide model credentials. Setup and approvals take place in Paperclip's UI; progress is not checked continuously.

This overview was written by AI (OpenAI Codex) from the public SKILL.md. Check the original below for the exact behavior.

Objective evaluation

AI rated this skill on four points using only the contents of its SKILL.md. Stars and popularity are not taken into account.

Clear instructionsIs it clear when to use it and what it does?
AGoodIt explicitly describes selecting an existing agent, creating a task, and returning its ID and link.
Concrete stepsAre steps, inputs, outputs, and examples spelled out?
AGoodIt specifies connection checks, task fields, creation and progress functions, and UUID reuse for retries.
SafetyAre sending data, deleting files, and running commands disclosed?
AGoodIt explains autonomous work and budget use, requires clarification of ambiguous requests, and defines retries that prevent duplicate tasks.
Easy setupDoes it need few tools or API keys, and are they documented?
BPartly lackingExisting teams and model credentials are required, but setup guidance only directs users to the UI.

The total counts each point as A = 25, B = 15, C = 5. Rated by AI (OpenAI Codex) as of Oct 20, 2026. Treat it as a guide and read the original before installing.

SKILL.md (original)

Review the instructions the agent will receive before you install.

Identify the connected person and company with paperclip_connection. List agents and, if relevant, projects. Select the agent suited to the requested outcome. Resolve ambiguity about team, scope or assignee with the user before creating work. Report paused or unavailable agents; do not promise they will run.

Prepare a task with the objective, relevant user-provided context, constraints and expected deliverable. Explain that delegation can start autonomous agent work using the team's separately configured execution capacity and budget. The user's request to delegate is sufficient authorization when its scope is clear.

Create one UUID requestId for the intended task, then call paperclip_create_task. Reuse that UUID and identical arguments if the same call must be retried. After an unknown outcome or disconnected call, inspect tasks before doing anything else. Never switch to a new requestId to force the action through.

Return the durable task ID and link. Distinguish submitted, running, blocked and completed states based on returned evidence. The task can continue after this conversation closes. Retrieve progress with paperclip_read_task; do not poll continuously. Direct setup and approval decisions to Paperclip's UI. Installing the plugin does not create teams or supply model credentials.
