Use when implementing delays that must survive process restarts (e.g., 24-hour cart abandonment, scheduled follow-ups), waiting for human approval or external events with timeouts (review gates, webhook callbacks, async API completion), polling external services without losing state on crashes, calling other functions and awaiting their results, memoizing expensive operations so they don't re-run on retry, or running async work in parallel inside a workflow. Covers Inngest step methods: step.run, step.sleep, step.waitForEvent, step.waitForSignal, step.sendEvent, step.invoke, step.ai, plus patterns for loops and parallel execution.

Generates Chinese/Japanese speech with StepFun's Contextual TTS — default stepaudio-2.5-tts, stepaudio-3-tts for whisper/inline-() prosody. Replaces step-tts-2's voice_label with natural-language instruction. Use for emotional/prosody-controlled synthesis, batch voice lines, migrating from step-tts-2, or cloned voices (2.5/step-tts-2, not v3). Triggers on 阶跃 TTS, 语音合成, 配音. Not for transcription (use stepfun-asr).

ALWAYS invoke this skill when you need the user to act - run a command, paste a secret, click, approve - and whenever they ask how to do something or say they do not know what to do: "step by step", "walk me through it", "what do I do", "what should I do", "I don't understand what to do", "explain what I need to do", in any language. Picking which task comes next is os-whats-next; this skill is for doing the thing in front of you. First earn the ask: try it yourself, find another route, shrink it to the part only they can do. Then one action per step, commands labelled by what they touch, no jargon. Commands are single lines that prompt for any value - typing hidden for secrets - and confirm in plain words. Afterwards verify their step.

Manage Spec Kit workflow step types via `specify workflow step`. USE FOR: listing built-in and custom workflow step types, installing/removing a custom step type from a catalog, searching/showing step-type info, managing step-type catalog sources. DO NOT USE FOR: running or installing whole workflows (use speckit-workflow), or bundles (use speckit-bundle).

Transcribes Chinese/English audio with StepFun's stepaudio-3-asr-max via its SSE endpoint (not /v1/audio/transcriptions) — one call handles long-form audio with no chunking. Use when migrating from step-asr/stepaudio-2.5-asr, or hitting the misleading "model not supported" error (actually wrong endpoint). Triggers on 阶跃 ASR, 语音识别. Not for TTS with the sibling model (use stepfun-tts).

Designing forms with multiple steps, progress indicators, conditional logic, and save-and-resume mechanics. The discipline of breaking complex data collection into stages that respect cognitive load while maintaining completion intent. Honest about kitchen-sink-single-page (overwhelms before the user starts), progress-theater (steps without genuine staging), and genuinely-staged (each step earns its own page) patterns. Triggers on multi-step form, multi-page form, form wizard, signup wizard, lead form, application form, intake form, configurator, onboarding form. Also triggers when a long form is converting poorly, when an audience is dropping off mid-form, or when a multi-step form is being scoped for the first time.

Master orchestrator for the 5-step productivity system. Runs the full audit-architect-analyst-refinery-compounder loop or individual steps. Use when: (1) "run the full loop", "start the system", "architect system", (2) "run step N", "run audit", "run architect", (3) "what step am I on?", "system status", "where am I in the loop?", (4) "continue", "resume", "next step". Manages state, sequencing, and skill chaining across all 5 steps.

Find, evaluate, and download common purchasable CAD parts from step.parts, including named off-the-shelf actuators, servos, motors, electronics boards, connectors, screws, bolts, nuts, washers, bearings, standoffs, and other catalog components. Use when Codex needs to search the hosted step.parts catalog before creating simplified placeholder geometry, resolve fuzzy part names, standards, aliases, or dimensions, choose a matching part, fetch a canonical .step file, verify checksums, or use the step.parts API/OpenAPI/catalog endpoints for standard part discovery.

Authors and edits AWS Step Functions state machines: writes Amazon States Language (ASL) in JSONata, and chooses and structures state types (Task, Choice, Map, Parallel, Pass, Wait, Succeed, Fail). Covers ASL syntax, JSONata data transformation and variables, Retry/Catch error handling, service integrations (.sync, waitForTaskToken callbacks), Distributed Map for large-scale S3/CSV processing, saga/compensation patterns, Standard vs Express workflow choice, TestState API unit testing, and migrating state machines from JSONPath to JSONata. Use when the user is building, authoring, debugging, or migrating a Step Functions state machine or ASL definition, or orchestrating multi-step workflows with branching, retries, or human-approval callbacks, even if they don't say 'Step Functions.' Do NOT use for general Lambda function code, API Gateway, EventBridge wiring, or SAM/CDK application packaging.

Generate detailed service restoration runbooks with step-by-step procedures. Use when someone asks to "create recovery procedures", "restoration runbook", "recovery steps", "how to restore service", or needs tactical step-by-step procedures for recovering from disaster scenarios. This is the execution companion to the DR plan — DR defines what and when, recovery-plan defines exactly how. Requires a DR plan to exist (will prompt to run /pmstudio-dr first if missing).

Walks a person through code changes one step at a time in conversation, starting at the entry point and following the flow that changes, showing a small chunk per step and explaining it in plain language. Defaults to the current branch's changes, and walks the code from the perspective of any context provided instead — a file, directory, symbol, pull request, plan, or ticket. Use when someone wants to be walked through, taught, paced through, or shown around code or a branch step by step, or to learn how a change works before reviewing or extending it. Stops after every step and waits, so the learner sets the pace. Paces through code that already exists and builds nothing — to build new work while being paced through it, use pairing. Does not produce a written overview to read alone — use code-overview. Does not review code quality — use code-review. Does not diagnose bugs — use investigate.

Runs a multi-step procedure as a Python DAG, so ordering, branching and retries are enforced by the runner rather than described in prose a model can generate past. Use for "run these steps in order and retry the flaky one until the check passes", "build a pipeline that fetches, validates, then skips the upload when nothing changed", "make sure these steps cannot be skipped", "resume from where it broke instead of redoing the expensive early stages", "run these independent calls at once and merge the results", or any procedure of 3+ steps with branches, input contracts, or side effects that must not block the critical path. Primitives are depends_on, when=, validate=, retry_until=, detached= and journal_path=. Not for a single sequential call, for steps needing reasoning between them that no predicate captures, or for async and distributed work. To audit whether one verification check can actually go red, use gating. To fan work out across many subagents, use a dynamic workflow.

Build interactive "living workflow" flowcharts in the visual style of https://statuesque-starship-49757d.netlify.app/revenue-engine - vanilla HTML/CSS/JS files with a horizontal step bar, a vertical trunk that grows per step, tool-to-tool columns with animated payload pills between brand-marked tool nodes, alternating left/right step descriptions, and per-step outputs. Use whenever the user says "build a flowchart", "interactive flowchart", "living workflow", "revenue engine flowchart", "demand gen flowchart", "GTM workflow diagram", "process diagram with animations", "Nebor-style flowchart", or asks to recreate the workflow visual from the Nebor site. Always asks which flowchart to build (Revenue Engine / Demand Gen / CRM & RevOps / Custom) and waits for explicit approval of the step + tool + edge table before generating any files.

Triggers on complex debugging, multi-step analysis, hypothesis verification, or when mk:fix invokes diagnosis phase. NOT for being stuck on approach (too many implementations, forced assumptions, innovation block) — use mk:problem-solving instead.

Turns an engineer's notes, a ticket history or a chat thread into a draft step-by-step runbook with preconditions, stop conditions, numbered steps with checks, verification, rollback and escalation, for the team to validate before use. Commands verbatim, placeholders marked, every gap UNKNOWN; never executes a step or fills a gap from general knowledge. Use when the user asks to "write a runbook from these notes", "turn this resolved ticket into a runbook", "document the steps we ran" or "check this runbook for gaps". Do not use for a business process without commands, use sop-drafter instead; for a knowledge article or known-error record, use knowledge-article-drafter; for the post-incident review, use incident-postmortem-drafter. Drafts for human review; never approves, authorises or signs off.

Analyzes a multi-step conversion funnel to find where users drop off and which steps have the worst leakage. Use this skill when someone describes a journey or funnel and asks about conversion rates, drop-off, fallout, or step completion. Trigger for phrases like "analyze our onboarding funnel," "where are users dropping off," "what's our checkout conversion rate," "funnel analysis," "show me fallout between these steps," or "which step loses the most users."
