Good for

  • Checking a computer for signs of malware
  • Reviewing unfamiliar processes or startup items
  • Checking browser extension permissions
  • Comparing findings with a previous checkup

Overview

What it does

pc-security-checkup reads security-related information on your macOS, Windows, or Linux computer. It checks startup settings, running processes and network activity, browser extensions, shell settings, the hosts file, and OS protections. It reports suspicious items, such as programs running from unusual locations, unsigned processes, extensions with powerful permissions, and disabled protections, ordered by severity. If you save a checkup, you can compare a later result with it and see what has been added.

When it helps

Use it when you want to look for signs of infection, investigate an unfamiliar process or connection, review startup settings, or check what changed since a previous checkup. You can also use it for periodic checkups. Automatic runs are set up only if you ask for them.

Example requests

  • “Check my Mac’s security in read-only mode.”
  • “Look for suspicious processes or startup items.”
  • “Compare this checkup with the last one and tell me what’s new.”

Notes

Python 3.8 or later is required; the skill uses only the standard library. It does not use administrator privileges, delete files, change settings, or stop processes. Results can include your username, file paths, and software, so do not send them to external services. This is not a replacement for antivirus software: it does not continuously monitor, check against known malware, quarantine, or remove threats. It cannot detect malware that falsifies OS command output, such as some rootkits. The material says hands-on testing on Windows and Linux is still limited.

This overview was written by AI (OpenAI Codex) from the public SKILL.md. Check the original below for the exact behavior.

Document check

AI checked the SKILL.md for operations that need care and for setup requirements. The score comes only from actually running the skill (hands-on test).

SafetyAre sending data, deleting files, and running commands disclosed?
AGoodIt forbids deletion, changes, and sending; scheduled checks and hash lookups require consent.
Easy setupDoes it need few tools or API keys, and are they documented?
AGoodIt specifies Python 3.8+ and the standard library, with OS-specific command examples.

Not counted in the score. Rated by AI (OpenAI Codex) as of Oct 27, 2026. Treat it as a guide and read the original before installing.

pc-security-checkup

python3 -I <このスキルのフォルダ>/scripts/checkup.py --save ~/.pc-security-checkup --diff latest
  • Windows では py -I <フォルダ>\scripts\checkup.py --save %USERPROFILE%\.pc-security-checkup --diff latest。

severity(high / medium / low / info)・category・title・detail・path

com.apple.

| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | 高 | 自動起動 | /Users/Shared/.x/run.sh をログイン時に起動 | ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.update.plist | 不審。

5. high

mkdir -p ~/.pc-security-checkup
cp <このスキルのフォルダ>/scripts/checkup.py ~/.pc-security-checkup/checkup.py

macOS(launchd、毎週月曜 10 時)

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.cccskills.pc-security-checkup.plist を作る。

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
  <key>Label</key><string>com.cccskills.pc-security-checkup</string>
  <key>ProgramArguments</key>
  <array>
    <string>/usr/bin/python3</string><string>-I</string>
    <string><HOME>/.pc-security-checkup/checkup.py</string>
    <string>--save</string><string><HOME>/.pc-security-checkup</string>
    <string>--diff</string><string>latest</string><string>--notify</string>
  </array>
  <key>StartCalendarInterval</key><dict><key>Weekday</key><integer>1</integer><key>Hour</key><integer>10</integer></dict>
  <key>StandardOutPath</key><string>/dev/null</string>
  <key>StandardErrorPath</key><string><HOME>/.pc-security-checkup/error.log</string>
</dict>
</plist>
launchctl bootstrap gui/$(id -u) ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.cccskills.pc-security-checkup.plist

launchctl bootout gui/$(id -u)/com.cccskills.pc-security-checkup
rm ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.cccskills.pc-security-checkup.plist

Linux(crontab、

0 10 * * 1 /usr/bin/python3 -I $HOME/.pc-security-checkup/checkup.py --save $HOME/.pc-security-checkup --diff latest --notify >/dev/null 2>>$HOME/.pc-security-checkup/error.log

Windows(タスクスケジューラ、毎週月曜 10 時)

New-Item -ItemType Directory -Force "$env:USERPROFILE\.pc-security-checkup" | Out-Null
schtasks /Create /TN "pc-security-checkup" /SC WEEKLY /D MON /ST 10:00 /TR "py -I %USERPROFILE%\.pc-security-checkup\checkup.py --save %USERPROFILE%\.pc-security-checkup --diff latest --notify"

Python

  • macOS: ls -la ~/Library/LaunchAgents /Library/LaunchAgents /Library/LaunchDaemons・crontab -l・spctl --status・csrutil status・fdesetup status・lsof -nP -iTCP -sTCP:LISTEN・cat /etc/hosts。
  • Windows(PowerShell): Get-MpComputerStatus・Get-ItemProperty HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run(HKLM も)・Get-ScheduledTask | ? TaskPath -notlike '\Microsoft\*'・netstat -ano | findstr LISTENING。
  • Linux: systemctl list-unit-files --state=enabled・ls ~/.config/autostart・crontab -l・cat /etc/ld.so.preload・ss -tulnp・ls -l /proc/*/exe 2>/dev/null | grep deleted
